The latest update to the popular Hike Messenger
has been rolled out and brings with it over 5000 new stickers in 30 languages. The upgrade is available for Android users.
The new stickers have probably been designed keeping in mind the target Indian market that Hike aspires to expand even further into, as they consist of localized expressions meant to represent slang, film dialogues and everyday experiences.
The pack is divided into 25 categories with area-specific names like Hyderabadi Aashiqui, Punjab Di Shaan and Dhakad Haryana.
Also on board are collections for specific social occasions and age groups such as Hostel Masti, Gharwalo ke Taane, Prem Amar, Bahanebaazi, O womaniya, Smarty Pants, Yaariya, and Heer Ranjha.
The previous Hike update additionally brought with it a new automatic Sticker Suggestions feature. The function recommends emoticons to use by analyzing what a person is typing during the course of a conversation.
Hike claims the technology behind the exchange of stickers has been optimized for 2G networks and makes sure they consume a minimum amount of data. It's in line with the upgrades version 4.0 of the messaging platform got, with the application designed in such a way to make it more accessible to first-time consumers of the internet.
The tool is now apparently 5 times faster and is able to function even in unreliable network environments. It further has the ability to support conference calls within a group and can connect up to 100 people in a single conversation. The feature is free and spreading out gradually amongst users.
